Phonics Picnic

Privacy

Phonics Picnic collects no personal information. It counts how the site is used, one browser tab at a time, and never who is using it.

The short version

There are no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no cookies and no third-party analytics. We do not collect names, email addresses, or anything else about the children or grown-ups who use the site, and we never sell or share information about visitors.

What the site counts

Why: to learn which words, lessons and sheets people come for, and which parts of the site nobody uses.

What it never collects

What stays in your browser

What you have chosen on a page, which word, which speed, what is read, is written into the page's address after the #, so a bookmark or a link you send opens the same way. Word lists you save are kept in this browser's own storage on your device, and the words you are picking for a list stay there until you close the tab. None of it is sent to us. Clearing the browser's data removes it; a list's link or QR code still opens the list.

What our hosting provider sees

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each request, such as the IP address, the browser and the page asked for, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Requests for sound clips and the counts above pass through a small Cloudflare Worker whose request logs are kept for a short time to find errors. We do not use them to identify or profile anyone, and the counts are kept without the IP address. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

Phonics Picnic is made for children learning to read and the adults beside them. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for a child to hand over. If that ever changes, this page will change first.
